Privacy Policy

Short version: YouTube captions, saved sentences, study history, video URLs, and playback activity are not uploaded to ParallelCue. We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or remote executable code in the extension.

Data handled locally

YouTube caption text, caption languages, video title and URL, and playback time are processed to render captions and the study panel.
The full transcript stays in memory and is discarded when the tab closes or navigates away.
Up to 2,000 saved sentences and 200 history entries are stored only in chrome.storage.local.
Subtitle appearance and language preferences use Chrome Sync.
Installed font names are read for the font selector, kept in memory, and never transmitted.

Checkout and license data

Starting checkout sends a random installation ID to ParallelCue's fixed license service, which creates a transaction for the fixed Pro price. Activation and validation send the entered license key plus random installation and instance IDs. The service uses them only to deliver and manage Pro access, enforce the three-device limit, and honor refunds.

The service stores only webhook idempotency keys, pseudonymous Paddle transaction and catalog IDs, ParallelCue license IDs, random installation/instance IDs, status, and timestamps. It does not store raw license keys, request bodies, captions, saved sentences, video URLs, playback positions, viewing history, font names, or display settings.

Paddle

Paddle is the merchant of record and separately processes purchaser email, billing and payment details, tax, transactions, receipts, and refunds under Paddle's own terms and privacy policy. ParallelCue does not receive or store card or bank-account details.

Network activity

The caption adapter requests YouTube's own timed-text caption tracks on the current YouTube page.
The extension Service Worker contacts only the fixed ParallelCue license API for checkout, activation, validation, and deactivation.

Paddle.js runs only on the web checkout page, never inside the extension. Paddle.js may load Paddle's ProfitWell/Retain resources to operate checkout and payment recovery under Paddle's policies. ParallelCue does not add product analytics, ads, subtitle uploads, or remote configuration, and Cloudflare browser analytics are disabled for these pages.

Retention and control

You can view, delete, and export saved sentences even without an active Pro license. Deactivation removes the local license and releases that device slot without deleting study data. Clearing extension storage or uninstalling removes local data under Chrome's behavior. Service-side status records are retained as needed to prevent webhook replay, honor refunds, enforce device limits, resolve disputes, and protect the service.
